Industry produces 50% of Canada’s carbon emissions. This is both a problem and an opportunity for Canada. The problem is the threat of an economic downturn caused by harsh penalties on carbon emitters. The opportunity, under the Liberal plan, is to balance the penalties with rewards for those that invest in new energy saving, carbon reducing technology. This incentive will help Canada to become a global leader in Green Technology. When you combine the revenue derived from the export of this new technology with the long-term savings derived from a cleaner environment it simply makes sense.
